Jail Diversion

Through the Jail Diversion program, persons with serious mental illnesses, serious emotional disturbances, or developmental disabilities who have committed misdemeanors are diverted to services as an alternative to being charge and incarcerated in a county or municipal jail.

Oakland County Stakeholders include: Chiefs of Police, Sheriff's Office, Corrections Administrator, County Executive Office, Board of Commissioners, Jail, Prosecutor's Office, Community Corrections, Police Academy, Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority and Core Providers (Easter Seals Michigan, Common Ground Sanctuary, TTI, CNS, MORC), Circuit Court, District Court, Office of Substance Abuse, Consumer and Advocacy Representatives, Public Officials, and others.

Our goal is to train all Oakland County Law Enforcement officers on Jail Diversion in Oakland County.
